For chess.fi, the client team and I decided to use a simple geometric-wireframe style. To make sure it didn't turn out too basic, I sought inspiration from M. C. Escher, the master of non-Euclidean art.
The project also required unique but easily recognizable 3D models of chess pieces, with a novel additional piece called Jester.
Besides just the chess pieces, all other illustrations were made using 3D software, with some clever trickery.
